Regeneration Project - Brittens Pond

Report by Alan Tanner - G.A.S Chairman & Secretary

Just over 9 years ago I started this project of upgrading the pond and de-silting. The first meeting was
between Mark Havler of Surrey Wildlife Trust (SWT) and I. It was round Mark's house whilst having a cup of tea we
started to discuss this in some detail. Over the next year or so we had a few more meetings and decided that we
we could do quite a bit of work. We then involved Dave Sayce of SWT and we had meetings at their offices.

It was slow going for quite a while, then things started to change and we became involved with The Environment Agency and Guildford Borough Council. This really started to get the ball rolling. Again, it took a lot of talking and
not much action. You will be surprised at how much red tape there is when carrying out such a project.

As from the 1st April 2012 a 'Fisheries Management Plan' was compiled by Guildford Angling Society,
The Environment Agency and Surrey Wildlife Trust for Brittens Pond. To view this Click Here...
