In recent years the National Trust has carried out extensive renovation work, replacing several lock gates and tidying the banks to make the river enjoyable for anglers as well as boat users.
The river is not fished a great deal and is rich with natural food producing some good size carp, chub, barbel and perch. The most popular spots on the river seem to be the Town Stretch, Triggs Lock and Bowers so finding somewhere peaceful to fish won’t be a problem.
The river is open to members and day ticket anglers. Day tickets can be bought from bailiffs who visit regularly.
Access to the river can be gained from Woodbridge Meadows, Woking Road, Stoke Lock, Cowley Meadows and Triggs Lock.
Please abide by the rules as the river is for everyone’s enjoyment.
